The kamasutra describes 64 arts & sciences that men and women should study to improve their skills. Among them, at least 4 are related to the practice of gymnastics (dancing, quickness of hand, skill in youthful sports, knowledge of gymnastics), perhaps for the acquisition of flexibility.
